Vega Health submitted recommendations in response to an ASTP/ONC RFI on accelerating the adoption and use of AI as part of clinical care. Vega Health supports efforts to make safe, secure, and effective clinical AI more readily available to the healthcare industry. Vega Health's business model is dedicated to ensuring widespread health system access to the most effective, validated AI solutions.
As ASTP/ONC seeks to accelerate adoption and use of this technology, Vega Health specifically urged the agency to consider the following:
- The role of federal deregulation and harmonization efforts in accelerating adoption of innovative clinical AI solutions;
- Pathways to accelerating clinical AI adoption through partnerships with state sandbox initiatives and market-driven incentives;
- Approaches to overcoming the obstacles limiting clinical AI implementation at every layer of the healthcare AI stack;
- Lessons learned from decades of clinical AI implementation and evaluation at leading health systems around the U.S.;
- Strategies to promote interoperability and eliminate information blocking practices that inhibit innovation; and
- Approaches to clinical AI research that can meaningfully accelerate adoption for health systems.
