Vega Health submitted comments in response to the “Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: ASTP/ONC Deregulatory Actions to Unleash Prosperity” (HTI-5) proposed rule. Vega Health supports efforts to foster the ability of innovative new market entrants to compete on a level playing field in the healthcare industry, and to accelerate adoption of effective AI solutions by health systems of all sizes. In detailed comments, Vega Health urged ASTP/ONC to consider the following:
- Information blocking by industry incumbents remains a significant barrier to the success of new market entrants’ ability to serve providers and health systems;
- The growth of AI-native healthcare companies will only increase the technical demands placed on FHIR APIs; and
- The elimination of federally mandated model cards and equivalents will expand the need for companies that provide transparent, objective evaluation of AI solutions for health systems and users.
Vega Health is encouraged by ASTP/ONC’s efforts to meaningfully advance interoperability for the healthcare ecosystem.
